cms.id is now always the section id, matching the wrapper's data-comp-id. In 4.6.1 an id already stored in the section data was kept, so sections seeded from Pack's default content (tiles-stack, tabbed-tiles-slider) and some sections from 2023 store upgrades passed a stale or shared id instead.

Minor Changes

Adds setPackConsent(), and PackProvider now forwards the visitor's answer to Shopify's privacy banner to Pack. Both take effect with @pack/hydrogen 4.0, which records and honors the answer, and do nothing on earlier versions. Adds window.packDebug.getTestInfos(), listing every test the visitor is in.

PackProvider and setPackConsent() stop posting to /pack/consent for 30 minutes at a time once the answer can't be Pack's endpoint (a 404, 405, redirect or non-JSON response), as on servers without @pack/hydrogen 4.0, then try again, so a tab left open across an upgrade to 4.0 starts recording.

Minor Changes

Replace the preview toast with a movable on-site toolbar. A draggable pill docks to any viewport edge (position remembered in localStorage under pack-preview-toolbar-dock) and opens a read-only details panel showing the active preview link, content release, environment, locale, A/B test, and drafts. Exiting preview now asks for confirmation and reports a failed request inline. A Hide action tucks the pill away until the page is reloaded or the storefront navigates to another path.

The old [data-pack-preview-toast] and [data-pack-preview-toast-content] attributes and the Exit preview mode button label are gone; target [data-pack-preview-toolbar], [data-pack-preview-toolbar-pill], [data-pack-preview-toolbar-panel], and [data-pack-preview-toolbar-hide] instead. Production pages with preview off mount nothing. Hiding announces how to restore the toolbar and returns focus to the previous storefront control when available. Toolbar and Customizer history subscriptions preserve navigation wrappers installed by other scripts.

Add usePlaybookCart, an opt-in bridge that lets Playbook's collection-grid "Add to cart" button use the storefront's own cart.

Playbook adds a line on a Liquid theme through Shopify's AJAX Cart API, which Hydrogen has no equivalent for. It deliberately will not write the line through the Storefront API instead: a Hydrogen cart's UI renders from React state no third-party script can reach, so the line would land in Shopify while the cart icon still read zero and the drawer never opened. Playbook falls back to linking to the product page rather than looking broken.

This hook lets the storefront — the only code that can update its own cart UI — supply the write:

Nothing is registered unless a storefront calls it. The hook normalizes Playbook's numeric variant id to a Storefront GID, and clears its window handler by identity on unmount so a route transition can't strip a newer bridge.

Keep customizer page content in the storefront preview when React Router revalidates the loader for the same page. Any action (for example a fetcher.submit POST) revalidates every loader and used to hand RenderSections a fresh content object that silently replaced the content received from the customizer, so a just-shown or newly added section rendered briefly and then vanished until the page was saved. Loader content now only takes over on navigation to a different handle, or while nothing has been received from the customizer for that page.

Patch Changes

Fix useSections exposing a changed element shape after 4.3.0. The RenderSections extraction wrapped each section's <style>/<section> inside the RenderSection component, so consumers that walk fragment.props.children to find the data-comp <section> element no longer found it (the <section> was hidden behind an unrendered component element). useSections now returns the flat <style> + <section> children again, while still sharing a single code path with the exported RenderSection. Full-page RenderSections output is unchanged.
